Fear of Cancer Recurrence and Progression:

Gathering Resources and Community in the Face of Ongoing Uncertainty

This online four-part program is designed for individuals navigating the emotional and physical challenges that accompany a cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. Recognizing that fear of recurrence and progression can be overwhelming, the program provides practical tools, reflective practices, and mutual supportive to help participants cultivate self compassion and resilience in the face of ongoing uncertainty.

Each session offers community support and  blends evidence-informed elements of mindfulness, movement, breathwork, meditation, and visualization, offering a holistic approach to understanding and engaging with fear.

Program Outline:

  • Session 1 - Introduction to practice and each other: an overview of mindfulness, movement, breathwork, meditation and visualization. Participants will explore the foundational practices that promote present-moment awareness and body-mind connection.
  • Session 2Understand the nervous system: learn how how your body protects you and the slippery slope of patterns. Participants will explore how habitual stress patterns form, and how to recognize and gently shift these patterns.
  • Session 3 - Fear of recurrence, progression and anxiety: facing toward common cancer fears. Participants learn strategies to acknowledge these fears without becoming overwhelmed, fostering a sense of agency, emotional balance and self-compassion.
  • Session 4 - Befriending our mortality: understanding our underlying fear of death.  This session will explore ways to acknowledge mortality and develop a compassionate relationship with the impermanence of life.

Through this program, participants hear each others' stories and normalize the fears that surface during and after cancer treatment.  Together, they gather both practical resources to navigate uncertainty with greater ease and very good company!
