Clinic Policies
Fragrance-Free Policy
Please note that due to allergic sensitivities, the CHI is fragrance-free.
Due to health concerns arising from exposure to scented products, the CHI is committed to providing a fragrance-free environment to all employees, students, residents, patients and visitors. Fragrances are defined as any product that produces a scent strong enough to be perceptible by others, including but not limited to cologne, after shave lotion, perfume, perfumed hand lotion, fragrance hair products, scented oils and/or similar products.
Cancellation Policy
A cancellation fee of 50% the treatment cost is applied to all cancellations taking place within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment, excepting IV therapy appointments which may be cancelled without penalty up until 7:00 am on the treatment day.
Conflict of Interest Policy
The clinic has a dispensary available for our patients to support access to high quality natural health products including herbal medicines and dietary supplements. The dispensary is only available for current patients at the clinic based on clinician recommendations. None of our practitioners receive any compensation based on these recommendations or purchases. This protection against conflict of interest also applies to referrals for care to any of our CHI practitioners and recommendations for use of our in-house therapies.
Alternative Medicine Policy
We honour autonomy of choice by our patients and will discuss options that a person may want to consider in their care to facilitate proper informed consent. There are no natural cures for cancer, and none of the treatments offered at the CHI are offered as curative-intent treatments for cancer. As a result, the CHI recommends the use of natural therapies as complementary or integrative treatments, as opposed to alternative treatments for the management of cancer. We strive to provide each person with a whole-person evidence-informed approach to care according to their condition and health issues individually.
Our goal is to provide the best support we can without risking harm, and to work in an integrative manner with physicians in the community and at the hospital. Sometimes our patients choose not to pursue conventional care at the hospital and this is their right and choice. However, in cases where someone has a curable or very treatable condition through conventional medicine, we reserve the right to not provide certain alternative therapies like intravenous injections that we offer within an integrative model. Our objective in serving our patients is to help manage symptoms and to increase the quality and longevity of our patients lives. We approach this goal with honesty and humility to support each patient respecting their wishes as well as respecting and communicating the evidence for our therapies, the limitations and risks of these therapies and ultimately to optimize outcomes based on our experience and knowledge.
