Psychotherapy and Counseling
Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. Mental health affects how we think, feel, and act and also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is essential during every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood. Too often people do not consider the importance of their mental health and let this lapse. Our counselor, Jennifer Turner has an amazing array of techniques and approaches to support improving and nourishing mental health.
Jennifer Turner is an experienced registered Psychotherapist with an M.A in Counselling Psychology. She has specialized certification in anxiety/depression, family/adolescent issues, couple counselling, health and lifestyle coaching, pregnancy and childbirth counselling, addiction, and supporting the challenges of living with chronic disease and dealing with dying. Jennifer is focused on providing integrative care and respectful individual and group work to support the challenges of illness, the hope of healing, uncertainty, end of life needs, and grief work. She views the therapeutic relationship as a respectful, trusting and collaborative partnership between client and therapist.
Jennifer also offers integrative cancer counseling and has a specialized certification in cancer coaching and navigation, mindfulness, and supporting the challenges of living with cancer, and end-of-life discussions. She is an experienced pastoral care provider, and is very privileged to be able to walk with individuals and their loved ones at the most challenging of times.
Supportive Cancer Care
Integrative cancer counseling respects the interaction between mind, body and spirit and is care of the entire human being - it is about more than physical survivorship. Counselling uses each patient’s experiences and definitions of health and well-being as a starting point to enhance well-being by providing hope, information and support, as well as practical skills to navigate their cancer experience.
Jennifer passionately believes that while life challenges can be heartbreaking, they can also provide one with an opportunity to discover what is truly meaningful, and to enhance one's appreciation for optimal physical, emotional and spiritual growth and well-being. Jennifer supports people to understand their options, make informed decisions, find out how to best work with their health care system.
As a cancer patient herself, she has learned how our culture often fails to support the space and opportunity to consider the full continuum of life and death - with all the sacred meaning, joy and grief that this often entails. Jennifer is committed to supporting individuals through this experience and to provide opportunities for people to talk freely of their needs, fears and hopes and explore the healing and growth available to them - reducing fear and feelings of isolation.
