RESEARCH PARTICIPANTS NEEDED
Research Study for Immune Support Alongside Cancer Treatment
The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine is conducting a study of Maitake for integrative cancer care. Maitake is a type of mushroom which is thought to enhance the immune system.
We are looking for volunteers who meet the following criteria:
- At least 18 years old,
- Diagnosed with any type of cancer,
- Currently receiving chemotherapy or CD4/6 inhibitors (e.g., Ibrance, Kisqali, Verzenio) as part of your cancer treatment,
- Available for in-person visits in Ottawa or Toronto.
Your participation would involve 4 study visits over the course of 12 weeks; each visit will be about 1 hour long. You will be asked to take the study product, a liquid solution called Prothera by Shogun Maitake, for 12 weeks.
If you are interested and choose to participate, you would be asked to take the study product each day, complete questionnaires, and have your blood drawn for analysis.
Participation in the study would not affect any treatments you are receiving at the hospital.
There is no cost for your participation. In appreciation of your time, you will receive up to $100 in VISA gift cards to help with parking and as a thank-you for your participation in the study.
