Anne has her masters in Kinesiology (MSc.), is the Director of the Ottawa School of Embodied Yoga Therapy (www.embodiedyogatherapy.com) and a certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) with over 40 years of experience in teaching embodied movement, training yoga teachers and pioneering yoga therapy in Canada.

At the Centre for Health Innovation Anne offers one-on-one yoga therapy and grief support. Anne has designed and leads Head Start, a program for those newly diagnosed with breast cancer, cultivating compassionate group support and bringing a wide array of helpful mindfulness and yoga practices to offer people who are in shock a tenderness toward their fear and anxiety. Similar to Head Start, Anne also designed and facilitates Inspire Now CHI's program of self-agency, group support and safe breath practice for people living with lung cancer. 

Other courses Anne has run at the clinic include “A Year to Live” (based on a program by Stephen Levine) and “The Way it Could All Be” (based on the teachings of Stephen Jenkinson). As practicing grief practitioner, Anne has extensive experience accompanying people living in difficult times with compassion.  She assists people in creating settling and grounding practices to live deeply and consciously, and for people in their ending of days, to die well.

Anne is a trauma-informed Pain Care Yoga Teacher, offering non-insisting, caring and individualized practice (www.annepitman.ca).  Anne has released a comprehensive audio practice called, “7 Short Practices: A Gentle Companion for Yoga Home Practice” and a meditation audio “Into the Body”.  Recently she co-authored a book called "Yoga Therapy Across the Cancer Care Continuum", which highlights the wealth of yoga practice in integrative cancer care, worldwide.  She leads "A Year to Breathe" from BadDog Studio and teaches "Mindful Aging", a unique intergenerational course, at the University of Ottawa.
